The Observatory OC was buzzing hours before doors even opened for the first stop of Lyn Lapid’s North American leg of the BUZZKILL WOLRD TOUR. Fans lined up early in the afternoon, eager to snag a good spot. Soon enough, the venue filled up, and you could feel the shared excitement in the air. This wasn’t just another show for Lapid, but the beginning of something truly special.

Lyn Lapid first caught the public’s attention through social media with her breakout single “Producer Man,” a catchy critique of the music industry that went viral in the 2020s for both its melody and message. She has become known to blend honesty with irresistible melodies that have made her one of today's most relatable artists in the industry. Since her start, she has built a dedicated following supported by her heartfelt lyrics and raw vocals.

Opening the night was RC Avenue, whose blend of funk and R&B was a perfect way to warm up the crowd. He performed his latest single “FINALLY” and fan favorites “COFFEE SHOP” and “STYLE,” creating a groove that had everyone swaying to the melodies. His set brought back a nostalgic 90s and early 2000s charm with a fresh twist, setting a tone for what was yet to come.

Before you know it, the venue lights dimmed, and anticipation rippled through the room. As the instrumental intro played, Lyn’s band took their places, and she walked onstage to cheers that filled every corner of the venue. She kicked off the night with “buttons,” “coraline,” and “Producer Man,” as the audience sang back every word with her. Welcoming fans to the first show of this leg of her tour, she shared that she was a bit nervous, but you wouldn’t have guessed it based on how confidently she owned the stage.

From there, she slowed down the night as she performed “back up plan” (a personal favorite of hers from her latest EP), “pick your brain,” “east side,” and “the alternative.” You could see the joy on her face as she jammed with her band and effortlessly connected with the crowd. Her passion for performing was undeniable, and she created a space where everyone felt like they were part of the moment.

Halfway through the night came a particularly sweet moment. Right before performing “poster boy,” Lyn told the crowd she needed help from them and spotted a fan, and jokingly said she couldn’t stop looking at him, just like the story in the song. She dedicated the performance to him, turning it into a wholesome exchange with the entire venue cheering along. Then, as a surprise, she performed a stunning cover of Rebecca Sugar’s “Love Like You,” silencing the room with her vocals.

Later in the set, Lyn reflected on how surreal the night felt. She recalled performing at the same venue years ago as an opener for Eric Nam, when she was still just starting out. Now, standing onstage in front of a nearly sold-out crowd of her own, she called it a full-circle moment. She followed with heartfelt songs like “floater friend” and “room for you,” and even tossed some merch into the audience, laughing and chatting with fans between songs. It felt less like a concert and more like a hangout between old friends.

She wrapped up her set with emotional performances of “take me as I am” and “it doesn’t kill me anymore,” which felt like the perfect send-off, but fans weren’t ready to say goodbye just yet. And neither was Lyn. She returned to the stage to perform “buzzkill,” “In My Mind,” and “i’ll be happy when,” ending the night on a powerful, hopeful note that lingered even after the lights came up.

Lyn Lapid continues to prove that people don’t just love her for her music—they love her for her heart. Her presence, honesty, and ability to make a packed room feel like a personal gathering is something truly special. The Buzzkill tour has only just begun, but if this show was any indication, we’re in for something unforgettable.
